Martin designs and makes furniture of the highest quality which is practical as well as being a valuable investment and an antique of the future. A one-off commission can incorporate the ideas and personal preferences of both the designer-maker and the client. Each piece is hand made from personally selected hardwoods and veneers to interpret the character of the design. This makes the finished piece unique and exciting.
All kinds of furniture can be designed and made for every aspect of the home, boardroom, office, shop, hotel, restaurant and includes humidors. Items may comprise wedding, christening, birthday, Christmas, presentation and retirement gifts.
As part of his business, Martin undertakes antique restoration and the research and making of retrospective copies of the old masters such as Sheraton and Chippendale.
Martin trained at Rycotewood College in Thame, Oxfordshire. He was awarded a B-Tec Diploma, the Higher National Certificate and relevant City and Guilds qualifications in Fine Furniture Making and Design. Martin began his own business in 1990 and has a growing list of International clients. He is a member of The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen.
The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers bestows an award, called a Guild Mark, upon the maker of any furniture which is exceptional in both design and craftsmanship. Their objective is to bring prestige and publicity to the recipients and to build a record of the finest British furniture of the age. Martin is proud and honoured to have received a number of Guild Marks
